Arrived in Apia Thurs 22nd May, 2008

Samoa is a day behind NZ, Australia. So we arrived in Apia early hours of the morning 12.35am and by then, most of us were tired but happy to be around each other. Dad, dads bro Lupe, Tafi, Ana & Chris picked us up from the airport in 3 x 15 seater vans and Lupe's ute. Mavaega from Kitano Tusitala (where we were staying) also came out in one of their vans to see if we needed any help with luggage and passengers so he was a huge help!

First impressions - the heat was so humid that my feet were sweating as soon as we came out of the airport (and I was wearing seevae kosokoso). The hire vans had the plastic covers on the seats (apparently this is normal) to keep the seats clean. Animals roam all over the roads (pigs, dogs) and so if you were to have an accident, it would be because of the animals!!!

On arrival @ Kitano Tusitala - we all sat around in the foyer until we got our key to our rooms. Taf was spokesperson from day 1. We were to meet in the morning for a quick debrief and then the day was ours seize. Personally I found it too exciting and needed to wind down before bed even though I was tired.
